PCMC to release ward structure by March 5

The draft ward structure was released by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The objections and suggestions over the same were to be submitted till February 14. PCMC received over 5000 objections to the rough draft of ward structure.

On Monday 14 February, the citizens and citizens representatives queued up at the regional offices to submit their objections over the draft ward structure. Over 5, 664 objections were received from February 1-14 at various ward offices of the PCMC.

Ward No. 5 Charholi, Chovisawadi, Wadmukhwadi and Ward No. 8 Bhosari Gaothan, Gavalinagar, Shitalbagh had the highest number of objections. The sitting corporators from these areas have raised their objections over the draft plan.

For the number of 139 councillors, there will be 45 wards having three members and one ward with four members.
Geographically, Ward No. 5 Charholi will be the largest ward while Ward No. 7 Sandwick Colony, Ramnagar will be the smallest ward. The number of objections were less in the first week, and last week but, on monday the objections literally poured in making the tally of 5664 objections in total.
Wards 5 and 8 have the highest number of objections. There are 700 objections for Ward 5, and 200 objections for Ward 8. In addition, ward no. 3 (Jadhavwadi, Borhadewadi), ward no. Tathwade, Punawale), 41 (Pimple GuravGaothan) and 42 (Kasarwadi, Phugewadi) wards too have objections. Objections have been lodged against railways, roads, crossing nallas, breaking of seamless sections, whereas, ward number 38 (Wakad), 39(Wakad- Pimple Nilakh), and 40(Pimple Saudagar) previously ward no 25, 26, and 28 have minimal objections.

The State Election Commission has appointed Anil Kawade as the authorized officer for hearing the objections. Kawade will hold a hearing on the objections on February 25. The draft will be sent to the Election Commission on March 2, 2022 with the recommendation of the authorized officials. The final draft will be released by March 5.

“Objections such as boundaries, descriptions, names, reservations will be categorized. The classification work will be completed in the next two days. These objections will be forwarded to the State Election Commission. The Commission will forward these objections to the authorized officer Anil Kawade. There will be a bunch of objections with the same demand. All of them will be called for a hearing at the same time. A member of the commission will also be present during the hearing. Kawade will have the final say on the objections.”said Balasahe Khandekar, Assistant Commissioner, Election Department.
