Pedestrian day celebrated in Balewadi

The Balewadi Residency Co-Op Housing Welfare Federation Ltd. celebrated Pedestrian Day on December 11 at Dasara chowk.

More than two hundred Balewadi residents were present. This was a spontaneous response to the call made by the federation. The federation celebrated the day in a very different way. The Federation consists of 75 societies from Balewadi.

Ramesh Rokade of the Federation said, “We are demanding safer, cleaner and better footpaths as well as roads. We are not just demanding that we need safer, cleaner, better designed, adequate roads and footpaths but it is our responsibility to maintain these too.”

Rokade further stated that it is a collective effort of all the members of the Federation who were present for the programme and brought forth the issues of the area through placards, banners, posters.

Balewadi Phata to Lakshmi mata mandir road is incomplete and there is no footpath

Dasara chowk to Ravindranath tagore school the road is incomplete, no footpath on one side of the road

Dasara chowk to Kunal Aspire the road condition is poor and no footpath is contructed

Sai Chowk to Golden Trail, footpath is incomplete

Mitcon to Ashtavinayak chowk the road is incomplete

F residency to Sapphire Park road is incomplete

Balewadi Highstreet – Mamta – F residency – Wakad – the road is incomplete

While the awareness was made about rights of pedestrians, the federation also told people about their duties and responsibilities. Placards were displayed with banners of demand. The aim of the federation is to make Balewadi green, safe and life of the residents very hassle and obstacle free.

The report of campaign will be submitted with our demands to : 1) PMC Commissioner 2) CEO of Smart City Pune 3) Divisional Commissioner 4) Secretary of Urban Development Department, Maharashtra Government.
