Pedestrian Day observed on Laxmi road on Dec 11

Pune Municipal Corporation on December 11 had organised Pedestrians’ Day keeping the vehicular traffic off the road. Road stretch from Umbrya Ganpati Mandir to Nimbalkar Talim.

The initiative was held to honour, encourage pedestrians’ and promote safe and secure pedestrians’ way. With this PMC has become the first city to organise this program.

A lot of cities in our country have very minimal facilities for pedestrians. But with Pune city, there is major transformation and pedestrians walkway have been designed by following the urban Street Design guidelines, pedestrians’ authority and non motorised traffic committee.

On December 11, the Laxmi road was closed for all sorts of vehicles from 10 am. This led to a safe and secure environment for the shoppers on the busy Laxmi road without any sort of hindrance and pollution. Lot of entertainment activities were also planned at the venue which kept the citizens enthralled.
