Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has acknowledged the poor condition of zebra crossings at various junctions in the city, which has caused inconvenience to pedestrians. As a solution, they have decided to repaint these zebra crossings.

As per the information, zebra crossings in the city have faded due to the monsoon. As a result, the PMC has decided to repaint them to ensure the safety of pedestrians while crossing the road.  The initiative will commence immediately after the Diwali festival.

The PMC will use thermoplastic paint to repaint zebra crossings, which will have a longer lifespan. The civic administration will also mark lane-separating markers and dedicated parking spaces to help regulate traffic. Additionally, the PMC will repair road stretches, including those at junctions, to ensure a smooth surface.

The safety of pedestrians crossing roads at main junctions in the city has been a cause of concern, especially on Pune-Solapur Road, Sinhagad Road, Satara Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Karve Road and Nagar Road due to heavy traffic flow.
