Pimpri : 200 societies receive notices from PCMC property tax dept

Pimpri Chinchwad: The property tax collection from tax defaulters in Pimpri Chinchwad is going on with full swing, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has sent notices to over 200 societies to pay the property tax arrears. 

PCMC’s tax collection department aims to collect ₹1000 crore tax by March 2023. Out of this, ₹625 crore tax has been collected so far and ₹480 crore property tax has to be collected. A total of 5.92 lakh properties have been registered with PCMC. A total of 17 divisional offices of the corporation have been involved in the tax collection drive. 

PCMC will cut the water supply if the tax defaulters fail to pay the property tax within 10 days after receiving notice. Even after that if the defaulters don’t pay the tax, the tax Collection department will seize their movable property. 

Assistant Commissioner, tax department, PCMC, Nilesh Deshmukh said, “We have served notices to over 200 societies with the list of property tax defaulters, 500 notices are to be served. We had temporarily closed the water supply for societies with tax defaulters though we connected it later. Citizens should abide by the rules and pay their taxes timely.”
