Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Federation Demands Recovery Of Water Costs From Builders, Calls For Action Against Violators
Pimpri Chinchwad, April 14, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation has taken a strong stand against the long-standing financial burden of water expenses imposed on housing societies across the city. The federation has demanded that authorities immediately issue orders to recover the full cost of water purchased by societies since 2019 from the respective builders.
According to the federation, several developers had provided written assurances at the time of project initiation, committing to supply water to societies at their own expense. However, these assurances have allegedly been widely violated, forcing residents to bear significant costs over the years. The federation has termed this not just an administrative lapse but a serious case of financial injustice against citizens.
In response, the federation has urged authorities to initiate criminal proceedings against builders who have failed to honour their commitments. It has also demanded that such developers be denied any future construction permissions or Completion Certificates until accountability is ensured.

Federation office-bearers stated that protecting builders who fail to uphold their written guarantees undermines the rights of residents. They warned that failure by the administration to take strict action could encourage further violations.
The issue has now posed a significant challenge for the civic administration, with citizens closely watching what concrete steps the municipal corporation will take.
“Every rupee paid by society members for water since 2019 rightfully belongs to them. Builders have violated their written commitments and caused injustice to residents. The entire amount must be recovered from them, and strict action must be taken. Otherwise, we will be compelled to launch strong protests to protect citizens’ rights,” said Sanjeevan Sangale, President of the Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Society Federation.
