Pune: In a unique move, the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation will submit a detailed report to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) informing them about the potholes, water logging & other road issues in several areas of Pimpri Chinchwad.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dattatray Deshmukh, President of Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation & Chairman of Maxima Society, Wakad said, “Several road issues are pending in many areas of Pimpri Chinchwad. Hence, we have decided to make a report of these issues as well as the areas and submit it to PCMC this week. The Municipal Commissioner is expected to visit and check all the road-related issues this week.”

As per information from Dattatray Deshmukh, some of the areas which have road issues are Bhumkar Chowk, Kasturi Chowk, Bhujbal Corner, Ravet Bridge Stretch, Punawale Underpass Road Stretch excluding NHAI roads, Tathawade Dange Chowk Road Stretch, Shani Mandir to Tathawade Underpass Service Road and many more.

Jayesh Hiray, Chairman, Tulip Society, Tathawade, said, “It has been almost 2 years, still the quality of several roads hasn’t improved. There are deep and large potholes in many parts of the road. Water logging is a continuous problem. I have fallen on the road while dropping my daughter to school. Going from Shani Mandir to Decathlon, which is just a U-turn away, takes me around 1 to 1.5 hours. No action has been taken by any authority so far.”

Suryakant Landge, Chief Promoter, Ace Almighty Society, Tathawade said, “Compared to the rapid development here like IT Park etc, no proper infrastructure is there. Shani Mandir to Tathawade service road is a complete mess. Potholes have become a common problem. Water logging takes place. These issues are pending for a long time, and still, no action is taken yet.”

Chairman of a Ravet-based society, requesting anonymity, said, “The roads of Punawale & Tathawade have become problematic due to various issues like potholes, water logging etc. Traffic issues have become common in Bhumkar Chowk. We are clueless and can only hope that issue is resolved soon.”

Makarand Nikam, City Engineer (Civil), PCMC said, “We can immediately carry out concretization & tarring works on all affected roads. However, due to heavy rains, tar gets swept away by water. Hence, we are waiting till the end of the monsoon after which a permanent solution will be implemented on all the affected roads.”
