Pimpri, April 2, 2024 – The Building Permit and Unauthorized Construction Control Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has achieved a significant milestone, crossing the Rs 804 crore mark in revenue for the financial year 2023-24. This notable increase in income by Rs. 20 crores compared to the previous year underscores the department’s robust performance and the city’s burgeoning construction sector.

The fiscal year 2023-24 initially witnessed a decline in revenue, with only 28 percent, equivalent to Rs. 224 crore, accumulated in the first half. However, subsequent quarters showcased the municipality’s proactive measures and effective policies, leading to a remarkable turnaround in revenue generation. Notably, there was a substantial 24 percent increase in revenue during the third quarter, with December 2023 witnessing a surge of over Rs. 415 crores.

The last quarter of the financial year proved to be particularly fruitful, with a record 48 percent increase in revenue for the Building Permits Division. Builders within the Pimpri Chinchwad city area significantly contributed to this surge, with payments totaling Rs 389 crore, as informed by Shekhar Singh, Commissioner and Administrator of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

Despite encountering challenges during the initial phase of the year, the Building Permits and Unauthorized Constructions Control Department demonstrated resilience and strategic acumen, achieving commendable results. Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, emphasized the effectiveness of municipal policies in driving revenue growth and sustaining momentum throughout the fiscal year.

The contribution of construction professionals to the city’s economic progress and revenue cannot be overstated. The escalating income from construction activities serves as a testament to the ongoing development in Pimpri Chinchwad. Looking ahead to the fiscal year 2024-25, the municipal corporation aims to achieve a 100 percent revenue collection target, underlining its commitment to sustained growth and fiscal prudence. Makarand Nikam, City Engineer of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, reiterated this objective, highlighting the city’s collective vision for progress and prosperity.
