Pimpri Chinchwad police bust online betting racket during IPL ; two arrested

In a major development, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have successfully exposed an online betting racket operating during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Two individuals, Sunny Premchand Gurnani (33 years old, Sadhu Vaswani Garden, Pimpri) and Sachin Sudam Hasnandasani (Sai Residency, Kalewadi), have been apprehended for their involvement in this illegal activity.

The complaint that led to the arrests was filed by Shivaji Namdev Munde with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crime Branch Unit 2. As the excitement around the IPL grew, incidents of betting on matches began to surface in Pune and Pimpri. In one such instance, the Pimpri Chinchwad police took swift action and arrested two individuals who were engaged in online betting through the website T20worldexchange.com, using the ID May3210.

The accused have been charged under the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, section 4(a), and the Indian Telegraph Act, section 25(c). The police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter to uncover additional details about the scope and extent of this betting racket.

Lately, Cyberabad police had busted an IPL betting gang. In the action, three inter-state gangs involved in organizing betting during the ongoing IPL seasons were busted and police seized cash worth rs 1.84 crore in cash. In another case, the Balanagar Zone police had nabbed two bookies and the main accused and had seized Rs 7.51 lakh cash from them.
