Pimpri Chinchwad Police Launch Crackdown On Illegal Fancy Number Plates
Pimpri Chinchwad, March 10, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have launched a strict enforcement drive against vehicles displaying illegal fancy number plates that violate Regional Transport Office (RTO) norms.
As part of the special campaign, traffic police officials are stopping vehicles across the city and inspecting their registration plates. Vehicles found using number plates that do not follow the prescribed RTO format are facing immediate action, with the illegal plates being removed on the spot.
Officials said the drive aims to ensure uniformity in vehicle registration plates and prevent the use of stylised or decorative fonts that make vehicle identification difficult. Such violations often create challenges for traffic enforcement and surveillance systems.
The police have urged vehicle owners to use only standard High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) and strictly follow RTO guidelines. The crackdown is part of broader efforts by the traffic police to strengthen road safety measures and improve compliance with traffic regulations across Pimpri Chinchwad.
