On 1st March 2024, the Anti Narcotics Squad seized 45 kgs of Mephedrone (MD) drugs in Pimple Nilakh which is worth Rs 45 crores. Police officer Vikas Shelke has been arrested.

As per further information shared by Pimpri Chinchwad Police,

On 1/3/2024, Narayan Patil, Assistant Police Inspector, Sangvi Police Station, was patrolling in the Pimple Nilakh area during night patrolling to prevent burglary and theft. When he came near the D P Road in Rakshak Chowk area Pimple Nilakh around 4:30 am, he saw a man with a white bag in his hand who started leaving in a hurry after seeing the patrolling vehicle.

Suspecting the person, they stopped him with the help of fellow police constables More and Kamble & asked for his name and address. He told his name as Namami Shankar Jha, aged 32 years, residing in the room of Sanjay Patil, Sector No. 27, BHEL Chowk, Nigdi, Native Place – Mehnaat Paivati, Taluka Mahinaam, District Darbhanga, State Bihar. When he was questioned about the bag in his hand, he attempted to evade it by talking nonsense.

After that, when he was questioned further, he said that Mephedrone was there in the bag. So, Assistant Police Inspector Narayan Patil called the staff of the investigation team to check. When the bag in the possession of said person was searched, 2 kg 20 grams of MD (Mephedrone) worth Rs 2,02,00,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs 10,000 were found & seized.

A case under Sections 8 (c), 21 (c), 22 (c) of NDPS Act has been registered in this regard at Sangvi Police Station. The said accused has been arrested and further investigation is on. The accused was produced in court and remanded in police custody for 7 days.

After the investigation of the registered crime was transferred to the Anti Narcotics Squad, the accused Namami Shankar Jha was investigated, and in the investigation, 42 kg 770 gm of MD, hence, a total of 44 kg 790 g of Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 44,79,80,000 was recovered and seized. As police sub-inspector Vikas Shelke is involved in the said crime, he has been arrested in the registered crime and he will be produced in the court.
