Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police takes stern against violators, fines 471 motorists in 7 days
The Traffic department of Pimpri Chinchwad Police conducted a special campaign to crack down on motorists violating rules. The motorists were fined for driving from the wrong side and triple seat.Â
The drive was held from March 24 to 31, 2023 with the aim of reducing the number of accidents caused by reckless driving in the Chakan, Bhosari, Talegaon industrial areas, and Hinjewadi, Talwade, Chikhli IT Park areas.
The campaign was initiated due to the rising number of accidents caused by motorists driving on the wrong side and ignoring the rules of the road. The police department had decided to take strict action against such motorists.
During the campaign, a total of 471 motorists were caught driving on the wrong side and cases were filed against them in the court. out of which 313 were fined for driving from the wrong side, while 158 motorists for driving triple seat under the IPC section 279. The action was carried out under the guidance of Vinay Chaubey, police commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Police, Joint police commissioner Manoj Lohiya, additional commissioner Sanjay Shinde, deputy commissioner Kakasaheb Dole and Vivek Patil.
The traffic department will be taking strict action against those who do not pay their fines, and cases will be filed against them in the court. The citizens are urged to avoid court proceedings by paying their fines on time.
