The shopowners from Pimpri Camp’s retail market were forced to hold protest rally against the unruly lockdown which has compelled many people to sit at home without any income.

The members held protest march at the Pimpri Market today on April 7, 2021. The members handed over a letter stating their non-cooperation and unjustified lockdown which has forced many workers to stay at home without income. With shops being closed as per the government orders, the shopkeepers are in deep shock on how they would survive.

Shrichand Aswani, president, Pimpri Merchant Federation said “The members held protest rally against the lockdown. We cannot afford to sit at home without any income. There are so many families dependent on our income. Our workers are left without any income ? How will we pay them salaries if we don’t earn ? This lockdown is unjustified. We have submitted our a letter requesting MLA Mahesh Landge , city head, BJP Pimpri Chinchwad and urged him to resolve our issues.”

Also present were Adv Nitin Landge, exmayor Nitin Nikalje, Rahul Jadhav, BJP general secretary Amol Thorat, ex Corporator Raju Durge and spokesperson Sanjay Patni.

The letter stated that the shopkeepers are already deep debt due to GST, global inflation and now Covid19. Even if the businesses are shut there are mounting expenses of power supply, property tax, bank loans, GST, and many things. The members informed that PCMC should allow us to work as we are taking enough precautions at all our stores by following all Covid19 health protocols.
