The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange alert for Bengaluru, forecasting heavy rains over the next two days. Moderate to heavy showers are expected in the city on Saturday and Sunday. Bengaluru has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two weeks, and the cloudy weather is anticipated to persist. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are expected to be 30 and 22 degrees Celsius, respectively. These rains provide much-needed relief from the intense heat experienced earlier this year. In response, the BBMP and Bengaluru Traffic Police are making preparations to manage waterlogging and traffic issues commonly associated with the monsoon season.

An Orange alert signifies very heavy rain, ranging from 6 cm to 20 cm in 24 hours. By contrast, a Red alert indicates over 20 cm of rainfall in the same period, and a Yellow alert denotes heavy rainfall between 6 to 11 cm. Additionally, the IMD has issued an Orange alert for Kerala, predicting substantial rainfall in the state from May 18 to 20, due to strong westerly and southwesterly winds in the region.
