According to her post on Reddit, the woman had booked an Ola cab for a journey to attend coaching classes in Wilson Garden, opting for cash payment. However, upon reaching her destination, the driver allegedly presented her with a significantly inflated fare of ₹749, compared to the approximate ₹254 displayed on the app.

Suspecting foul play, the woman remained composed and requested to inspect the driver’s phone herself. Upon examination, she discovered that the Ola app was still running in the background, indicating that the fare shown was a fabricated screenshot. Unfazed, she took control of the situation by swiftly ending the trip through the app, exposing the driver’s deceitful actions.

Despite the driver’s attempts to deceive her, the woman’s vigilance and assertiveness allowed her to avoid falling victim to the scam.

Her post quickly caught internet users’ attention. Netizens praised the woman for her quick actions.

A user wrote, “The scams are evolving. Good, you didn’t fall for it and thanks for sharing it. I am impressed with the driver’s skills to come up with these scams.”

Another user wrote, “I have fallen for it yesterday. The driver showed me his bill was 1946 but my uber receipt was showing 678. Had to pay him since he was making a scene and I had my sick parent with me.”

Her story serves as a reminder for passengers to stay alert and assert their rights while using ride-sharing services to prevent such fraudulent incidents.
