The Maharashtra Metro Corporation (MahaMetro) has submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 16.11 km Bhosari to Chakan Neo Metro to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The proposed route includes 11 stations and has a projected cost of 1,548 crore 14 lakhs. The proposal will now be reviewed by the corporation before being sent to the state and central government for approval.
Talegaon and Chakan Industrial Belt (MIDC), together with Pimpri-Chinchwad city, would have direct Metro access to Pune city. For this, the Municipal Corporation asked Mahametros to create a DPR ( Detailed Project Report) for the Kasarwadi metro line that runs from Nashik Phata to Chakan. Mahametro created the DPR in accordance with this and gave it to the then-Commissioner Shravan Hardikar. The survey also showed that because this route is not well populated, the response from passengers won’t be very high. In place of the metro, Mahametro suggested a cheaper neo-metro line which the corporation approved.

It has stations in Bhosari District Central (East), PIEC Centre, Bunkarwadi, Bharatmata Chowk, Chimbli Phata, Barge Vasti, Kuruli, Alandi Phata, Muktewadi, Talegaon Chowk, Chakan Chowk.

“In December 2022, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation received a revised DPR for the Neo Metro line that runs from Bhosari to Chakan. This will be an elevated route. Accordingly, the metro will connect the industrial belt of Bhosari, Talegaon, and Chakan,” said Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director, Administration & Public Relations, Mahametro, Pune.
