Pimpri : PCMC Declares Thergaon Vegetable Market Free From Single Use Plastic
PCMC inspects and raises awareness to stop usage of plastic bags; declares Thergaon Bhaji Mandi as free from single-use plastic

Pune: On the occasion of International Plastic Bag Free Day on July 3, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) conducted a citywide inspection at various locations about plastic bag usage. It also declared Thergaon Bhaji Mandi as a single-use plastic-free mandi. The PCMC has encouraged citizens to immediately stop using plastic bags and use cloth bags to reduce plastic waste.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Yashwant Dange, Assistant Commissioner, PCMC health department said, ” The main intention of this inspection is to spread awareness among the people about the harmful usage of plastic bags and how it affects the environment negatively. Thus, along with the inspection, we are also installing cloth bag vending machines in Pimpri Chinchwad to curb the use of plastic bags.”
As per information from Yashwant Dange and PCMC’s Twitter handle, the PCMC has declared Thergaon Bhaji Mandi a single-use plastic-free mandi.
