PMC Begins Election Preparations with Police and Political Parties Ahead of 2025–26 Civic Polls
Pune, 19 December 2025: In preparation for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) General Elections 2025-26, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram convened a meeting with the police department to coordinate necessary election-related actions. The meeting was attended by Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Bhajibakre, Deputy Commissioner of Special Branch, Archana Gaikwad, Pune Regional Transport Officer, along with representatives from various relevant departments.
During the meeting, officials discussed the establishment of dedicated police units as per Election Commission directives, appointment of police coordination officers for different units, and ensuring strict implementation of the election code of conduct.
Key security measures highlighted included deployment of video surveillance teams, patrol units, static surveillance teams, election decision officers, zonal officers, election observers, EVM strong rooms, distribution and acceptance centers for election materials, counting centers, one-window facilities, and secure transportation of EVM machines. Sensitive polling stations were also identified for additional security coverage.

Police responsibilities for monitoring candidates’ campaigns—including public meetings, temporary campaign offices, loudspeaker permissions, processions/roadshows, and pre-certification of advertisements in media—were also outlined. Deputy Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma assured that comprehensive planning had been undertaken to ensure smooth and transparent elections, with full cooperation extended to the PMC.
Subsequently, a separate meeting was held with representatives of political parties. The meeting began with a presentation of basic information regarding the upcoming general elections. The Deputy Commissioner and nodal officers introduced the online “No Objection / No Dues Certificate” system, explaining that the process for registration and application submission had been made simple and user-friendly. Political party representatives welcomed this innovative initiative by the PMC.
