PMC plans BRTS route between Bopodi and Wakdewadi

The tender process for putting in place the BRTS route from Bopodi to Wakdewadi has started. The expected cost for the project is Rs 80 crores. This is the 9th BRTS route and it will save the time of the passengers.

The distance of 5 kilometres will have 11 stops. The travel time will be of 6 minutes while it will take 13 minutes to travel the same route by non-BRTS vehicle.

A total of 674 PMPML buses run on the BRT routes in Pimpri Chinchwad. The Hadapsar BRTS route has been closed.  At least two stops have been removed due to metro work.

The work on the Dighi to Alandi BRT route, which is the 8th route, is still going on.  There are nine stops on this route, the inauguration of which is pending.

“A total of 7 routes are operational.  The eighth one will be inaugurated soon.  BRTS route on Bopodi to Wakdewadi route will be in service soon. The tender process has also started and it will take 18 months,”  said Omprakash Bakoria, Chairman and Managing Director, PMPML, Pune.
