PMC takes action by sealing properties who fail to pay tax

The Property Tax and Taxation Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation has been actively addressing the issue of negligent property tax holders. As part of their efforts, they have taken direct action to seal properties belonging to those who have failed to pay their taxes.
Recently, the Choice Health Club building in Kothrud and Arole Construction Pvt. Ltd. in Peth Mangalwar were sealed by the Municipal Corporation due to their significant tax arrears totaling Rs. 4 Crores. To encourage income tax payments, the Municipal Corporation has been diligently implementing various schemes and offering tax concessions.
Despite these efforts, it has become apparent that many citizens are not fulfilling their tax obligations. They often provide various reasons for their non-compliance, displaying indifference towards their responsibilities. In response, the municipality launched a campaign to send notices to those with overdue tax payments, urging them to settle their dues. Unfortunately, these notices have been ignored, leading to the decision to seal the properties with outstanding tax liabilities.
