Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) removed several encroachments coming under the Yerawada Kalas Dhanori Ward Office limits.

As per information from PMC, on October 30, 2023, under the guidance of PMC Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakane, Madhav Jagtap, (Deputy Commissioner, Encroachment / Unauthorized Construction Eradication Department), Kishori Shinde (Deputy Commissioner, Circle No. 1), in the presence of Somnath Bankar (General Sixth Commissioner), Pawar (Electricity Department), Wadekar (Road Department) and Kumbhar Sanjay and Narayan Sable (Regional Encroachment Inspector), encroachments from Sadalbaba Chowk to Kharadi Bypass, Viman Nagar area & others have been removed by the PMC.

Action was taken against road traders who do business illegally on footpaths as well as those who violate the conditions of licenses and hawker certificates issued by the encroachment department of the PMC including not doing business themselves, hiring tenants, not doing business at approved premises, using cylinders, etc.

2 area encroachment inspectors, 5 encroachment inspectors, 24 assistant encroachment inspectors, 6 cranes, 6 gas cutters, 12 trucks and 100 maintenance workers, 20 police personnel, 32 Maharashtra security force personnel and local police forces participated in carrying out the operation smoothly.

The details of the action taken are as follows:-

· Stalls Removed – 6

· Handcarts Removed – 5

· Counters Removed – 15

· Sheds or Huts Removed – 50

· Boards/Banners Removed – 125

· Total area cleared – 30000 sq ft
