PMC to begin survey of STP’s from residential societies

Pune Municipal Corporation shall soon begin a survey of sewage treatment plants in residential societies. The civic body in its letter has mentioned that societies not operating their sewage treatments plants will face stern action. Such societies will face penalisation.

When Pune Pulse spoke to Santosh Tandale, drainage department, Superintending engineer, Pune Municipal Corporation said, “PMC shall survey societies having STP’s and check whether they are functional or not. The objective of this survey is also to reduce the burden on the main drainage line. Also, PMC gives rebate in property tax to societies having STP. Inspite of getting rebate on tax, societies do not keep their STP’s operational.”

The ward offices are asked to complete the survey before July 15, 2022. The work for laying the main trunk line for 11 merged villages has been sanctioned. the work shall begin soon, he added.
