According to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune city will soon have ‘aspirational toilets’ with star hotel-like amenities to provide clean, well-maintained restrooms for the general public.

The brand-new, cutting-edge “aspirational toilets,” which are anticipated to be unveiled in noticeable places, will include sanitary pad vending machines, tissue paper, liquid soaps, and cleaning supplies.

According to PMC, the “posh” toilets will be pay-and-use machines that appear in densely populated areas. They will also have an ATM connected to them.

A PMC senior official said that six of the 15 “aspirational toilets” that the PMC plans to build in the city are now under construction. The public will be able to use these restrooms with confidence and fearlessness because they will be kept in good condition and adhere to the highest standards of hygiene.

Ten seats will be available in each “aspirational toilet”: four for men and women, one for those with physical disabilities, and one for transgender people.

Another PMC official said that the ATM machine and the option to display advertisements on the walls of these toilets will help generate money to run the facility that will have a caretaker for 24 hours. The futuristic restroom will be constructed as a green building with solar-powered roofing to produce electricity and rainwater collection capabilities. Pay and use options will only attract sincere users, and the funds raised will support effective toilet upkeep and operation.

The estimated cost of each toilet being developed under the union government program is Rs 38 lakh, to which the state government is expected to contribute Rs 25 lakh.
