PMC to hear tax pleas in Undri now

Pune Municipal Corporation in a letter issued today informed that the residents can now approach their tax related issues at the Undri gram Panchayat office on every Tuesday and Friday between 11 AM to 1 PM.

it was decided to set up a committee that will resolve the tax related issues. The committee will scrutinize the applications at the PMC headquarters tax office on every Tuesday and Thursday between 11 am and 1 pm. The decision was taken that the tax related issues of 11 merged villages in PMC will be heard at the main tax office. The residents has raised the issues of inflated tax bills, PDF issues of property holders, revision in ready reckoner rates.

Undri Village Citizens Action Committee (Undri Gaon Sangharsh Samiti) are staging protest against PMC’s unjustified taxes imposed on the citizens since December 20. The protestors met Vijay Shivtare on December 25 and appealed him to set up a office in Undri gram Panchayat which will be convenient for the residents. The protestors assured to suspend their protest only if the demands are met.

Protest against property tax by Undri residents

Swati Takle, a former Zilla Parishad member, from Shivsena (Eknath Shinde faction) said, “It was on the insistence of Vijay Shivtare that the PMC has announced to accept the Gram Panchayat office to hear tax related pleas. The office will remain open on every Tuesday and Friday between 11 AM and 1 PM. We had a meeting on December 15 in PMC regarding the sa.e which was headed by Vijay Shivtare. He assured that issues which will be resolved in PMC will be dealt here while those not in PMC jurisdiction will be taken with the Urban Development Department, Maharashtra Government.”

Ajit Deshmukh, assistant commissioner, tax department, Pune Municipal Corporation said the decision was taken to provide relief to the citizens of Undri. They can submit their applications alongwith documents. They should attach documents that justify that their property tax calculations are showing difference. The office will remain open in Undri gram Panchayat office but citizens from nearby villages too can submit their applications.”

Sachin Ghule, former Deputy leader of house, Nationalist Congress Party leader said we had put up three demands out of which only one demand of setting up office in Gram Panchayat for tax related issues is accepted. Other two, of PDF and ready reckoner rates have still not been accepted. Our protest will continue till these demands aren’t met.”

Rajendra Bhintade a Bharatiya Janata Party leader informed that the PMC has accepted only one demand while other two are pending. We, the members of Undri Village Citizens Action Committee are awaiting for complete acceptance of our demands.
