Speculations were rife about the launch of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited app in November, promising passengers the convenience of UPI-based ticket payments. The app, designed to provide bus information and facilitate ticket purchases from the comfort of one’s home, was anticipated to roll out by the end of November. However, the app is still conspicuously absent even after the month’s conclusion.

Sanjay Kolte, Chief of PMPML, addressed the delay, assuring passengers that the app development is in progress, and plans are in place to unveil it for public use soon.

In the meantime, PMPML has taken steps to enhance passenger experience by implementing UPI-based ticketing across all buses. The response to this initiative has been positive, with measures continually being undertaken for passenger convenience. The upcoming PMPML app is expected to provide comprehensive bus information, including real-time bus arrival updates and exact bus locations.

It’s worth noting that since October 2023, PMPML has already introduced a cashless payment facility for passengers. This initiative allows passengers to make payments via QR codes, with UPI options available by scanning the QR code on the carrier’s e-ticket machine. Importantly, these cashless payment options have not disrupted the existing operational facilities.
