In a shocking turn of events, a PMPML bus driver found himself entangled in a heated altercation with a car driver at a station, ultimately leading to a perilous incident where he recklessly reversed the bus, imperiling the lives of passengers on board.
Witnessed by commuters today on Senapati Bapat Road, the disturbing episode unfolded as passengers raised urgent cries for help, their voices resonating in panic throughout the bus. Regrettably, the driver remained undeterred, refusing to heed the passengers’ pleas.
The gravity of the situation has prompted authorities to register a case of culpable homicide against the bus driver at the Chatushringi police station. This incident transpired in the vicinity of Symbiosis College and Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk, in close proximity to the JW Marriott Hotel.
The accused, identified as Nilesh Dnyaneshwar Sawant, a 31-year-old resident of Atul Nagar, Warje Malwadi, is now in police custody. The complaint, which initiated the legal proceedings, was lodged by Police Constable Sushil Subhash Lokhande.
According to law enforcement officials, Nilesh Sawant serves as a PMPML bus driver and was operating bus number ‘MH14, HU 5725’ on his route toward Pune University during this distressing incident that transpired on a fateful Saturday.
