Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) aims to implement the multi-modal integration (MMI) plan across all 23 stations along the elevated Hinjawadi-Shivaji Nagar Metro corridor. This initiative is crucial in providing last-mile connectivity along the 23.3km stretch. PMRDA’s plan is modeled after the one recently announced by its Mumbai counterpart.

As per reports, since the third Metro line [Hinjawadi-Shivaji Nagar] is being implemented in public-private partnership (PPP) mode, the project concessionaire will create a plan similar to that of MMRDA.

As per the information provided, the agency’s representative stated that they would implement various measures such as improving parking facilities and developing infrastructure along the route. These measures aim to ensure convenient access to autorickshaws, buses, private cabs, and electric bikes. The official also mentioned that once the project is nearing completion, the planning for the MMI (Metro Multimodal Integration) will commence.

The third Metro line is scheduled to begin operations by the end of April 2025. Currently, approximately 50% of the work has been finished. Another official from PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) stated that the design and development of the stations for Pune Metro Line 3 are being carried out in accordance with the transit-oriented development policy issued by the state government on March 9, 2019. This includes the implementation of pedestrian pathways, non-motorized transport infrastructure, and the introduction of facilities for para-transit modes.
