Police chalks out plan for traffic management at Gahunje Stadium ahead of ICC World Cup 2023

Pune: In preparation for hosting five matches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Pune is making efforts to ensure comprehensive security and smooth traffic management near the MCA International Stadium in Gahunje. The Pimpri Chinchwad police are currently devising a strategy for it.
As per the information provided, the Pune city police have stated that they are awaiting communication from the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) regarding the accommodation arrangements for the participating teams. Once this information is received, a plan will be formulated to facilitate the secure transportation of the team vehicles to and from the stadium.
It is worthy to note that this year, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will take place at ten venues across India for a period of 46 days, from October 5 to November 19. The MCA International Stadium in Gahunje, located approximately 25 km from Pune city, will host five matches, starting with the India vs. Bangladesh match on October 19.
The Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Police, Vinoy Kumar Choubey, informed that these matches are expected to attract a significant number of fans from all over the country. In response, a multi-layered security arrangement will be implemented in and around the stadium. A designated number of personnel and officers will be assigned to secure each layer.
While talking to Pune Pulse, Bapusaheb Gaikwad, Deputy Engineer, PCMC, added, ”Meeting was arranged in this and all important points were discussed. Potholes are being repaired for smooth traffic. We urge Pune residents to avail of the metro service. After that, a bus service is provided for the audience to reach the ground. This will ensure ample parking space for outsiders.”
