Police Naik Sawant felicitated by Anil Deshmukh
Police Naik Abasaheb Vijaykumar Sawant for recently felicitated by minister for home Maharashtra government Anil Deshmukh for his timely action and perseverance he showed while an unmasked motorist dragged him about 800 feet on his car bonnet.
Sawant was on his duty at Ahimsa chowk carrying out action against motorists driving without mask, when he spotted a motorist driving his vehicle without a mask. It was at this moment Sawant stopped him but the adamant driver dragged the police officer 800 feet on his bonnet causing threat to his life. But Sawant’s perseverance and firmness saved him from a major accident.
Sawant’s commendable achievement earned him a certificate of appreciation and a cheque of Rs 10,000 from Anil Deshmukh. The felicitation ceremony was also attended by Krishna Prakash (IPS), commissioner, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and Shrikant Disle, assistant commissioner of Police, Traffic division, Pimpri Chinchwad.
