Police take action against striking auto drivers

The auto drivers association staged a protest on Monday morning against illegal bike taxis like Ola, Uber and Rapido. The auto drivers of Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune city staged a protest in front of Pune RTO, chanting slogans and driving autos from one side. The agitation continued till late night. Cases have been registered against 37 auto drivers in this regard. 

“Yesterday there was a peaceful protest. All the auto drivers went home after the protest but at least 30 auto drivers were waiting in front of the RTO. Police confiscated their autos and lathi charged the drivers. Action has been taken on them,” said Keshav Kshirsagar, leader of auto drivers Association. A case has been registered at the Bund garden Police Station in Pune.


Since the autos were parked on the road till late night, the police themselves removed them and a police control team was also deployed there the next day morning.
