The National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at various offices of Popular Front of India (PFI) across the country on September 22. The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) searched in 12 places across Maharashtra.

In the early morning operation, raids were conducted in the Kondhwa office of PFI located near Kausarbaug Masjid.

While more details are awaited, ATS reported that 20 people connected with PFI have been arrested.

“In an early morning operation, ATS Maharashtra conducted a large number of raids in Aurangabad, Pune, Kohlapur, Beed, Parbhani, Nanded, Jalgaon, Jalna, Malegaon, Navi Mumbai, Thane & Mumbai. Four offences have been registered in Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad & Nanded in various sections of IPC & UAPA for indulging in unlawful activities promoting enmity amongst communities & for conspiring to wage war against state. So far, 20 PFI-linked accused have been arrested and the probe is underway,” informed an official from Anti Terrorism Squad, Maharashtra.
