Post Diwali Detox : Important Do’s and Dont’s to be followed

All those who relished eating those gujiyas, laddoos, shakarpara, milk based mithais, are now looking for some easy tricks to shed those extra kilos which were gained in the last one week. With many still working from home due to the pandemic, the physical activity has been minimal and hence there is a surge in people looking for easy ways to stay fit. These detoxification tips can help you stay fresh and make you look lean and fit. 
The weather change has added to the stress and people are worrying more. But there are some easy to do ways which can help you in making you feel fresh and energetic.

1. Say a complete no to artificial sugar / sweeteners :
It is recommended that you should stay away from sugar for at least seven to fourteen days. No maida products, milk based mithais and even aerated drinks.

2. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water :
This is the key to flushing out all the toxins. This keeps your body hydrated and helps you flush out the toxins through sweat and urine.

3. Consume more fruits :
Fruit diet is considered to be the best, but remember to choose fruits according to your choice and what suits your body. Sweet lime, orange, pear, apple, banana, papaya, sapota {chikoo}, guava, fresh coconut water are the best detoxifying agents. Avoid drinking fruit juices, instead consume them without any process. Eating fresh cut fruits is recommended. You can even add cucumber, beetroot, salads, sprouts in your diet and easily replace one meal with this.

4. Say no to meat :
Keep your meals light. Hence, avoid consuming meat and meat products for some weeks.

5. Simple exercise :
Go for walks in your neighbourhood garden or do simple exercises at home such as yoga, pranayama, Suryanamaskar (sun salutations), meditations which will help in keeping emotionally strong and keeps stress at bay.

6. Keep wheat and introduce Bajra / Jowar / Ragi in your diet :
You may cut down on gluten products from your diet and can introduce Jowar, Bajra, Ragi, Rice for a few days or as long as you can consume. These are light on the stomach and help you stay away from bloating. Do give it a try.  

7. Include Fresh Green leafy vegetables :
These are a great resource to detox. With the winter season approaching, it is the ideal time to include fresh leafy vegetables in your diet. Source locally grown fresh leafy vegetables in your diet.
