Pune, July 29, 2024 — A technical malfunction at the Mahatransco Jajuri 400 kV high-voltage substation caused a power outage in several areas of Pune on Monday night. The issue, which began at 8:11 PM, resulted in a disruption of electricity supply for approximately 30 minutes in various parts of the city.

The malfunction led to an interruption in power transmission, triggering the automatic Load Trimming Scheme (LTS) to mitigate potential risks and damage. As a result, power was also cut off at the 220 kV high-voltage substations in Fursungi, Parvati, and Nanded City. Affected areas included Parvati, Nanded City, Sinhgad Road, Wadgaon Dhayari, Peshwe Park, Navi Peth, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Ambegaon, Ganga Village, Kale Padal, Mohammedwadi, Sayyed Nagar, Undri, Pisoli, Manjri, and Bhekrainagar.

Power restoration efforts were promptly initiated, and normal electricity supply was fully restored by 8:38 PM. Mahatransco officials are currently investigating the cause of the glitch to prevent future occurrences.
