Prepare to Spend More for Weddings on Goa’s Beaches
Planning a beach wedding in Goa? Be prepared to spend about 1 lakh per day at the destination.
With the increasing number of applications for beach wedding permits in Goa, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has opted to raise the fees to Rs 1 lakh per day.
In preparation for the upcoming wedding season and the new tourism influx, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has increased the fees for the construction of new temporary seasonal structures and for issuing permits for beach weddings.
However, a 75% discount on these fees will be offered to government corporations, autonomous bodies, charitable trusts, schools, and sports events.
This also applies to construction permits, with GCZMA imposing a fee of Rs 1 lakh for the approval of sewage treatment plants on coastal properties. Additionally, for the first time, a fee has been introduced for the installation of hoardings.
The former rate is Rs 1 lakh for a maximum of five days, with an extra charge of Rs 10,000 for each additional day beyond that.
The total number of applications for various events surpassed the instances of violations related to the coastal regulation zone, with the figures peaking in December and January.
Destination weddings provide a distinctive way to celebrate the beginning of a shared journey. Today, almost every couple envisions organizing a wedding in a picturesque location away from home.
Goa has emerged as one of the most popular wedding venues in India. This lively region, brimming with stunning beaches, luxurious resorts, and a wide range of services, has undoubtedly won the hearts of many couples.
There is a growing anticipation regarding how the recent changes in pricing will affect the local wedding industry. Given the significant increase in fees, it remains to be seen whether this will deter couples from choosing Goa for their beach weddings.
According to the updated fee structure, the GCZMA will now charge Rs 1,000 per square meter for new shacks, a rise from the former rate of Rs 500 per square meter. Furthermore, huts and cottages will now face a fee of Rs 500 per square meter, up from the previous Rs 100 per square meter.
