Pune: 30 km/h Speed Cap For Heavy Vehicles In Pimpri-Chinchwad, PMRDA Promises Road Repairs Soon
Pimpri-Chinchwad, November 26, 2025: Authorities have introduced a 30 km/h speed limit for heavy vehicles across the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) jurisdiction following a high-level meeting held on Sunday to address rising road accidents, particularly in the IT belt.
The discussions focused on the areas of Wakad, Hinjawadi, Bavdhan, Tathawade, Punawale, and Ravet, where residents have repeatedly raised safety concerns.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, Regional Transport Office (RTO), and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Residents’ groups from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Hinjawadi also participated, presenting their grievances as well as highlighting challenges faced by heavy vehicle drivers operating in the region.
Among those present were Pimpri-Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, PMRDA Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional CP Sarang Awad, DCP (Traffic) Vivek Patil, DCP (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, and Deputy Regional Transport Officer Sandesh Chavan.
Sachin Londhe, a petitioner in the Unclog Hinjawadi IT Park campaign and chairman of the Wakad–Pimpri-Chinchwad Residents Development & Welfare Association, described the meeting as constructive. Speaking to Pune Pulse, he said the interaction covered several critical issues linked to escalating accidents and traffic congestion. “The discussions were positive, and we received encouraging assurances from all officials present,” he added.
Officials also confirmed that PMRDA will undertake necessary road repairs in Hinjawadi, addressing longstanding concerns from residents and commuters in the region.
