Pune | January 29, 2026: The Petrol Dealers Association (PDA), Pune, representing 875 fuel station owners across the district, has expressed deep grief over the demise of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Late Shri Ajit Dada Pawar. Remembered as a decisive administrator and a leader committed to the state’s progress, Ajit Pawar’s passing has left a profound void in public life as well as among industry stakeholders.
In an official press note, the Association said Ajit Pawar consistently extended support to the petroleum retail sector, offering timely intervention on operational, regulatory and long-pending issues. His proactive approach helped bring stability and clarity to petrol dealers, particularly during periods of uncertainty. PDA members recalled his accessibility and willingness to address concerns swiftly, often resolving matters with immediate action.
Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association, Pune, said Ajit Pawar was a dependable pillar of support for the petroleum trade. “Late Shri Ajit Dada Pawar was not only a towering statesman but also someone who truly understood ground-level challenges. His assistance to the petroleum sector, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, can never be forgotten. His ability to resolve issues urgently, sometimes with just a single phone call, made a lasting impact on our fraternity,” Ruparel said.
As a mark of respect and collective mourning, the Association and its Managing Committee have decided that all 875 petrol pumps across Pune district will switch off their lights on January 29, 2026, between 7 pm and 7.15 pm. The symbolic gesture is intended to honour a leader whose governance style was rooted in public welfare, administrative transparency and industry responsiveness.
The Association stated that Ajit Pawar’s contributions to Maharashtra’s development and his supportive engagement with the petroleum sector will always be remembered with gratitude and respect.
