Pune: 9-km CCTV Scan Helps Wanowrie Police Arrest Motorcycle Thief
Pune, July 20, 2026: The Wanowrie Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from the Ghorpadi area and recovered the stolen vehicle following an extensive CCTV-based investigation.
According to the police, a blue Honda Splendor motorcycle (MH 12 LN 7729) was stolen from Ghorpadi Sub Station within the jurisdiction of Wanowrie Police Station on July 14, 2026. A case was subsequently registered under Crime No. 327/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
To trace the stolen vehicle, Wanowrie Police formed two investigation teams. During the probe, Police Constables Balaji Waghmare and Ashish Kamble examined CCTV footage covering a stretch of nearly 9 kilometres, which helped identify the suspect.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Naved Shaban (26), a resident of Yewalewadi, Pune, was taken into custody. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the theft, following which he was formally arrested in the case.
Police recovered the stolen Honda Splendor motorcycle from the accused. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Bagade.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajlakshmi Shivanakar (Zone 5), Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramdas Ingawale (Wanowrie Division), Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, Crime Inspector Kailas Daberav, PSI Shekhar Mokate, and the investigation team comprising HC Dayaram Shegar, HC Mahesh Gadhave, PC Balaji Waghmare, PC Ashish Kamble, PC Vishnu Sutar, PC Gopal Madane, PC Chavan, PC Chormale, and PC Syed.
