Pune, India – The eagerly awaited new terminal at Pune Airport is gearing up for its final testing phase, scheduled to commence in late July. This crucial testing period will ensure that all systems are thoroughly inspected and any potential issues are resolved prior to the terminal’s official opening in late September.

Airport authorities emphasize the importance of conducting these trials to identify and address any initial challenges before the terminal becomes fully operational. The testing process, expected to last for approximately one month, will primarily focus on examining the functionality of the terminal’s electrical systems.

During the testing phase, various essential components such as conveyor belts, lifts, escalators, fire systems, and aerobridges will undergo rigorous evaluations to ensure their proper functioning. However, it is important to note that passenger and flight movements will not be included in these trial runs.

The new terminal, constructed at a cost of Rs 475 crore and seamlessly connected to the existing terminal, boasts an impressive built-up area of 7,50,000 square feet and is designed to handle up to 16 million passengers annually.

Additionally, the Airports Authority of India has established a partnership with a taxi aggregator for passenger transportation, aiming to provide convenient and efficient services while ensuring a profitable operation. Currently, passengers are required to board cabs at the Aero Mall.

The upcoming launch of Pune Airport’s new terminal promises improved facilities and enhanced capacity to cater to the growing number of air travelers in the region. The extensive testing phase demonstrates the commitment of airport authorities to delivering a seamless and efficient experience for passengers once the terminal officially opens its doors in September.
