Pune Airport : Two Singaporean Passengers Attempting To Smuggle Gold Through Garments Apprehended

Pune: In a recent development, two passengers hailing from Singapore have been apprehended at Pune Airport for their involvement in smuggling gold paste concealed within garments. The individuals had arrived on flight UK 112 from Singapore on 30th July 2023. Acting on profiling suspicions, airport officials intercepted the passengers.

Upon inspection by the Pune Customs, officials discovered a unique compartment crafted within their underwear, ingeniously concealing gold paste. The search yielded a gold chain on each of the passengers. Subsequent extraction of the gold paste resulted in the recovery of two gold chains, with a collective weight of 202 grams. The estimated value of the seized gold chains amounts to Rs. 12,35,445/-.

As investigations unfold, authorities are diligently pursuing further leads to ascertain the extent of the smuggling operation. The incident underscores the ongoing efforts to curb illicit activities at Pune Airport and highlights the creative yet illicit methods employed by smugglers.
