Pune airport’s new terminal likely to be  inaugurated by PM Modi

According to officials, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the city in the second half of February to officially open the new terminal at the Pune International Airport and a Metro line that will connect Ruby Hospital to Ramwadi junction.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, recently paid a visit to the city and observed the ongoing construction of the new terminal at Pune airport. It was then, Scindia declared that the terminal will be opened in a few weeks.

Authorities from the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro), Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune, Metropolitan Region Development Agency (PMRDA) officials, and district collector attended the meeting on Tuesday, according to sources who confirmed that the administration had started making arrangements for the tour.

There’s a chance the Prime Minister will visit Shivneri Fort to honor the anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth if he happens to arrive in the city.

PM Modi would be visiting Maharashtra for the third time since the start of the year if the tour is approved. The Prime Minister traveled to Nashik and Mumbai on January 12 and then to Solapur on January 19 to deliver houses that were finished as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The Metro line between Ruby Hospital and Ramwadi station is complete and ready for service, according to Maha-Metro officials. The Metro authority hopes to inaugurate this section of the corridor in the presence of the PM, as a safety inspection for the corridor was recently completed.
