Pune: Ambegaon Police Arrest Notorious Burglar In Chitale Bandhu Shop Break-In Case
Pune, February 03, 2026: Ambegaon Police have arrested a known offender in connection with a burglary at a Chitale Bandhu outlet in the Ambegaon area and have successfully cracked three criminal cases linked to the accused.
According to police officials, the burglary took place between 10.15 pm on January 25 and 7.45 am on January 26, 2026, at the Ved Food Chitale Bandhu shop, located at Windsor County Society, Datta Nagar, NDA Road, Ambegaon. The shutters of shop numbers 14 and 15 were forcibly opened, and valuables were stolen.
A case was registered at Ambegaon Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Following the incident, the police investigation team analysed CCTV footage from the surrounding area and acted on confidential information.
Based on these inputs, the police arrested Omkar Maruti Dede (21), a sanitation worker residing near Ganpati Temple, Kirkatwadi, Dhayari, Pune, along with a juvenile in conflict with law. The accused were apprehended after a trap was laid by the Ambegaon Police investigation team. During interrogation, their involvement in the Chitale Bandhu burglary was confirmed.
Further investigation revealed that the accused were also involved in two other criminal cases. These include another case registered at Ambegaon Police Station under BNS provisions, and a theft case registered at Airport Police Station under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police have recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹1.24 lakh from the accused, including an autorickshaw, a motorcycle, and cash. Further investigation in the case is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Mohan Kalmkar of the Ambegaon Police Station.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Milind Mohite, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Swargate Division) Rahul Aware. The action was executed as per instructions of Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine, with the efforts of Police Inspector (Crime) Gajanan Chormale, PSI Mohan Kalamkar, and a dedicated team of police personnel.
