Pune ATM Robbery: ₹10.89 Lakh Stolen in 1 Minute 28 Seconds, CCTV Footage Surfaces
In a shocking incident from Mulshi taluka’s Pirangut area near Pune, two unidentified individuals managed to steal ₹10.89 lakh in cash from an ATM belonging to the Pune District Central Bank in just 1 minute and 28 seconds. The robbers used a key to open the ATM, bypassing the need for force or tools. The theft, captured on CCTV, has gone viral on social media. Paud police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint filed by Praveen Chimandas Butala, the robbery occurred at the bank’s ATM located within Pirangut village limits. CCTV footage shows two men arriving at the ATM, appearing as regular customers. One of them used a key to open the ATM door while the other kept watch. The duo accessed the internal cash tray by entering a password to unlock it and swiftly transferred ₹10.89 lakh into a bag before fleeing the scene.
The robbers did not resort to vandalism or weapons, relying solely on the key and password to execute the crime. The incident has caused panic in the area, highlighting potential vulnerabilities in ATM security systems.
Police Investigation
Senior Police Inspector Santosh Girigosavi is overseeing the investigation, led by officer Yogesh Jadhav. The police are analyzing the CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify and apprehend the culprits. Efforts are underway to determine how the robbers acquired the key and password used in the crime.
