Pune: School Teacher From Bhekrai Nagar Arrested For Molesting Class IX Student
A 28-year-old woman from Shirdi, in Pune for a job interview, was attacked with an ignition key by an autorickshaw driver after a dispute over the fare. The incident took place around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday on Gangadham Road.
The woman, who had initially hired the autorickshaw to find a room after her interview, was assaulted by driver Akshay Nandu Khilare (28) from Upper Bibvewadi. After taking her to several lodgings and demanding the fare of Rs 800, Khilare became enraged when the woman found the room rates too high and refused to pay.
During the argument, Khilare attacked her with the ignition key of his vehicle, causing injuries to her forehead, below her left eye, and on her neck. The woman, despite her injuries, managed to call the police, who arrived swiftly and arrested Khilare at the scene.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) R Raja confirmed that Khilare admitted to the assault. The woman was treated for her injuries at Sassoon General Hospital and has since been discharged.
Sub-Inspector Balaji Digole of the Kondhwa police reported that a complaint has been registered under Section 118(1) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The victim, visibly shaken by the incident, has reported the driver’s aggressive behavior to the authorities.
