In celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, the Balewadi Welfare Federation (BWF) orchestrated an evening of recognition and inspiration, culminating in the distribution of the BWF Citizens Award 2024. Embracing the theme of “Shakti and Bhakti,” attendees were treated to an enlightening lecture by Uday Maharaj Ghodke.

The award ceremony, a cornerstone of the event, aimed to applaud the efforts of individuals residing in the Balewadi community who have undertaken distinctive initiatives to effect positive change in society. This year marked the second iteration of the awards, with the spotlight shining brightly on four exceptional individuals: Shamsundar Kulkarni, esteemed journalist Sheetal Berge, community activist Prashant Sardesai, and environmentalist Ashwini Mudaye.

These awardees represent a spectrum of impactful work spanning education, public awareness campaigns, civic engagement, and waste management. Amidst an atmosphere of gratitude and admiration, Balewadi Welfare Federation President Ramesh Rokde, alongside Vice President Parashuram Tare, Ashok Nawal, Advocate S O Mashalkar, and Uday Maharaj Ghodke, took the stage to present the accolades.

Amey Jagtap, Coordinator of the BWF Citizen Awards and Director of the Federation, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting the endeavors of the awardees in their ongoing efforts. A comprehensive overview of the Federation’s initiatives was provided by Moreshwar Balwadkar, setting the stage for a future filled with collaborative endeavors.

Facilitating the proceedings with finesse, Asmita Karandikar served as the moderator, while Yash Chaudhary delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, underscoring the collective appreciation for the tireless dedication of the awardees.

The event attracted a diverse array of attendees, including DD Singh, Vikas Kamat, Jeevan Chakankar, Pandurang Bhujbal, Dattaji Barge, Shakeel Salati, Sachin Patil, Rajeev Shah, Dr. Sudhir Nikhare, Shubhangi Ingwale, Sukumar Iyer, as well as representatives from various societies, members of the Pune Mahila Mandal, and seniors from Navchaitanya Senior Citizens. The presence of Balewadi community members, Vasundhara Abhiyaan Baner members, and concerned citizens further underscored the collective spirit of camaraderie and support.
