Pune: Bhimthadi Jatra Returns for its 18th Edition: Dates and Highlights Announced
The much-anticipated Bhimthadi Jatra, one of Pune’s largest rural carnivals, is set to return for its 18th edition from December 20 to December 25, 2024. Organized by Sunanda Pawar, mother of NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, this popular event will be held at the Agricultural College Grounds in Sinchannagar, Pune.
Known for its vibrant mix of rural products and traditional crafts, the jatra offers a variety of food items like masalas, pickles, and freshly cooked dishes from live food counters, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes. Visitors can also find unique utensils made from mud and wood, which are typically available only in villages.
A highlight of the Bhimthadi Jatra is its focus on promoting women entrepreneurs. Many stalls are managed by women from Self Help Groups (SHGs), providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and earn a significant income. The jatra is also a shopping haven for those looking for eco-friendly and hand-crafted clothes made from natural materials such as organic cotton, khadi, linen, and natural dyes, sourced from artisans across the country.
This year, the response has been overwhelming, with all stalls already sold out and inquiries closed.
