Pune: Bhoirwadi Residents From Maan Raise Alarms Over Crumbling Infrastructure Despite High Tax Contributions
Pune, June 19, 2025: Residents of Bhoirwadi, in Maan village, located in one of Pune’s and India’s prime IT hubs near Hinjawadi, have expressed growing frustration over the lack of basic infrastructure despite contributing crores in taxes annually. The grievances were widely shared on social media, highlighting issues such as pothole-ridden roads, absence of drinking water, inadequate sewage and stormwater lines, and unreliable power supply.
Abhishek Singh, a local resident, voiced his anger stating, “We pay high taxes to live in one of the top IT parks in Pune, but the conditions here are pathetic. No drinking water, no drainage, no proper roads, and frequent power cuts — the authorities are making our lives hell.”
Another resident pointed out, “With over 3,500 flats in the area, the estimated annual tax contribution is over ₹2.5 crore. Even if 10% of that amount was spent on development, we would have better roads. People have even been hospitalized due to road accidents caused by poor road conditions.”
The outcry also prompted a response from Pune Pulse, which reached out to Archana Sachin Adhao, Sarpanch of Maan village, under which Bhoirwadi falls. She commented, “The MIDC is primarily responsible, but they have not fulfilled their duties. I strongly believe that large-scale townships should not be permitted if authorities can’t ensure basic amenities. During our joint meetings with PMRDA and MIDC, I raised concerns over the poor infrastructure. Both organisations must take responsibility, and developers should be held accountable for providing basic facilities.”
The social media posts and videos show deteriorating road conditions, overflowing garbage bins, and residents voicing their collective disappointment. The issue has now gained traction online, with demands growing for MIDC, PMRDA, and related civic bodies to take immediate corrective action.
Residents are also urging developers to step in and fulfill their promises of well-developed surroundings, as many fear worsening conditions during the ongoing monsoon season.
