Shivajinagar Police have booked Omkar Kadam, a prominent BJP office-bearer and president of the party’s Kamgar Aghadi unit in Pune, along with seven others, for allegedly stalking and harassing a woman medical officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The FIR was registered on Tuesday following the officer’s complaint.
The accused — including Kadam’s aide Akshay Kamble — have been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 78 (stalking), 79 (insulting modesty), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
According to the FIR, between January and June 2025, the accused repeatedly followed the civic officer and made derogatory remarks in front of her colleagues, allegedly damaging her dignity and creating a hostile work environment.
The medical officer had earlier raised concerns with both the PMC’s internal inquiry committee and the State Women’s Commission but was reportedly dissatisfied with the response. In response to her complaint, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram issued an order barring Kadam and Kamble from entering civic premises until further notice, citing the civic body’s duty to ensure staff safety.
“If the banned individuals attempt to enter PMC offices, security must stop them and file a complaint with local police,” the order stated.
Meanwhile, Pune BJP president Dheeraj Ghate has sought a formal explanation from Kadam regarding the allegations.
Kadam, however, has denied the accusations, claiming the officer filed a false complaint to divert attention from alleged corruption charges against her.
