Chakan / Pune, March 17, 2026: Amid an ongoing gas shortage that has already disrupted industries, hotel businesses, and the daily lives of workers in Chakan’s industrial area, a shocking case of alleged black marketing has come to light outside the gate of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

According to reports, gas cylinders were being illegally removed and sold directly from trucks lined up outside the HPCL facility. The malpractice was captured on camera, confirming allegations made by workers a day earlier.

Workers had accused that gas was being sold in the black market at rates ranging between ₹500 and ₹700 per kilogram. Visual evidence recorded at the site now substantiates these claims. The footage shows cylinders being taken out of parked trucks and sold openly, bypassing official supply channels.

In a particularly alarming incident, three youths were seen fleeing the spot with cylinders taken from a truck. The entire episode was caught on camera, raising serious concerns about the scale of the operation.

What has intensified the outrage is that this alleged black marketing is taking place at the very location where official gas distribution is expected. Reports suggest that even drivers of the trucks may be involved, putting a major question mark on the entire supply system.

At a time when hotels are on the verge of shutting down, industries are struggling to function, and common citizens are facing severe hardship due to the gas shortage, the open sale of cylinders in the black market has sparked anger among locals.

The incident occurring right outside the HPCL gate has also raised serious doubts about monitoring by both the company and local authorities. Questions are now being raised over accountability and when strict action will be taken against those responsible.
