Pune: Bullet-Bound Burglar Wanted In 50 Crimes Across India Nabbed In Kothrud; Bangaldeshi Passport & Foreign Currency Seized
Pune, March 28, 2026: The Pune Police have apprehended a notorious Bangladeshi national involved in multiple house and office burglaries across more than 50 locations in India. The arrest was carried out by the Alankar Police Station following a detailed investigation in coordination with the Varanasi Police Commissionerate, Uttar Pradesh.
Incident Details
On March 14-15, 2026, an unknown individual broke into the office of “The Territory” at 43/68, Navsahyadri Society, Karve Nagar, Pune. The intruder stole electronics including a Sony camera, two lenses, a Mavic Pro 2 drone, an Apple iPhone, and other items valued at approximately ₹6,71,500. A First Information Report (FIR 43/2025) was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305(A) of the Indian Penal Code.
Investigation and Arrest
CCTV footage from the area showed the suspect riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle near the crime scene. Technical analysis and tracking of the motorcycle revealed the suspect’s movement across Hyderabad, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Lalbarra, Shadol (Madhya Pradesh), and Mirzapur. With assistance from Varanasi Police, the suspect was finally trapped and arrested.
The accused identified himself as Mohammad Bashar Nur Mohammad, 38, from Dhaka, Bangladesh, also using the alias Nevanath Vinod Kumar from Rangareddy, Telangana. Investigation revealed that the suspect frequently used false identities and fake documents to commit crimes.
Recovered Items
Upon frisking, police recovered stolen items from the Alankar Police Station case, including the Sony camera, lenses, Mavic Pro 2 drone, Apple iPhone, and other electronics worth approximately ₹6,00,000. Additionally, the suspect was found in possession of a Bangladeshi passport and foreign currency including US Dollars, Chinese Yuan, Malaysian Ringgit, Singapore Dollar, Canadian Dollar, and Nepalese Rupees.
Legal Action
FIR 74/2026 has been filed against the suspect at Ramnagar Police Station, Varanasi Police Commissionerate under Sections 317(2), 319(2), 338, 336(3), 340(2) of the IPC and Sections 21 and 22 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act. The accused also has 36 registered cases in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Police Team and Leadership
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Rajesh Bansode, Additional Police Commissioner, Western Range, Pune; Sambhaji Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-3, Pune; and Sujata Tanwade, Joint Police Commissioner, Kothrud Division, Pune. The team included Senior Inspector Ulhas Kadam, Sub-Inspectors Ganesh Dikshit, Mahesh Nimbalkar, Jagannath Bhosale, and Police Constables Jagdish Talole, Nishikant Sawant, Dhiraj Pawar, Chandgude, Someshwar Yadav, and female police constable Kumbhar.
The Pune Police emphasized that this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on organized burglary networks operating across multiple states.
