Pune Woman Dies After Loud DJ Music In Procession; Family Says Traffic Jam Delayed Hospital Care
Sasane Nagar, March 28, 2026: A 65-year-old woman, Ranjana Ravindra Jadhav (resident of Galli No. 12, Sasane Nagar), died after suffering a suspected heart attack during a Ram Navami procession in Sasane Nagar, allegedly triggered by the extremely loud DJ music at the event.
The incident occurred around 8 PM on the main road of Sasane Nagar, where local organizers had arranged a procession with a DJ to amplify the festivities. Ranjana Jadhav had come to watch the procession after completing some household chores. Soon after arriving, she complained of chest pain and collapsed. According to her son, Saurabh Jadhav, the high volume of the DJ drowned her calls for help, and she did not receive immediate attention.
Nearby women noticed her collapse and rushed her into an auto-rickshaw. However, heavy traffic caused by the procession delayed her journey to the hospital. By the time she arrived, doctors confirmed that she had already passed away. Ranjana Jadhav was a retired staff member from the College of Military Engineering (CME).
Saurabh Jadhav alleged that the excessive DJ volume caused his mother distress and contributed to her death. He also highlighted that the delay caused by the procession’s traffic worsened the situation.
Meanwhile, Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil of Kalepadal Police Station stated that the woman’s death was not caused by the DJ noise. He noted that Ranjana Jadhav, aged 60 according to official records, had undergone bypass surgery and required weekly dialysis. The DJ had been instructed to stop at 9 PM, and the woman’s death occurred afterward. No official permission had been granted for the DJ.
This incident has sparked concerns among residents about loud music at public events and the impact on elderly individuals with health conditions.
